1.Utility-scale PV fields – Central inverter aggregation
Floor-mounted on steel cross-arms between tracker rows, the 12-in-1 box
consolidates a dozen 1500 V strings into one homerun cable. Individual fuse
holders protect each string against reverse-current faults, while twin SPDs
(± and PE) clamp lightning surges induced across long DC runs. The main
rotary isolator delivers visible-break isolation at the combiner, allowing
maintenance crews to lock-out the entire 1500 V bus before work on the
central inverter or transformer.
Installed on ballasted trays across expansive flat roofs, the unit feeds 12
separate strings into a single MPPT input of a 250 kW inverter. String-level
fusing prevents fault propagation between arrays, and the isolator gives
electricians a local disconnect point during inverter replacement or IR-scan
inspections, eliminating the need to shut down the whole rooftop.
Suspended on pylon structures above crop rows, the enclosure aggregates
power from elevated bifacial modules. IP66 sealing blocks irrigation spray
and dust, while dual SPDs protect against summer thunderstorms common in
rural plains. The isolator switch enables farmers to safely de-energise DC
circuits before adjusting tracker tilt or servicing irrigation booms.
Plinth-mounted at the edge of solar car-ports linked to battery containers,
the combiner merges 12 strings into a 1500 V DC bus feeding PCS chargers.
Busbars rated 400 A continuous handle storage charge/discharge cycling, and
the isolator provides emergency shutdown for fire fighters when integrated
with the micro-grid’s arc-fault detection system.
5.Remote desert solar plants – Long-string harsh-environment hubs
Fixed on concrete pads amid desert arrays, the box withstands 55 °C ambient
and wind-blown sand. Twin SPDs safeguard against distant lightning strikes
on kilometres of DC cabling, while the main isolator allows night-time
lock-out without inverter exposure, ensuring minimal downtime during module
cleaning or tracker motor swaps.
