The SYS5-40P 1000V DC Surge Protector Device, supplied by China manufacturer Zhejiang Soutya New Energy LLC, protects 500–1000 V DC circuits in residential rooftop PV, small C&I installations and battery back-up systems, offering 3.9 kV voltage-protection-level and a DIN-rail, IP20 housing that fits easily inside a home distribution box.
Key Features
The wiring height is the same as that of the fuse and circuit breaker. Busbars can be used for convenient wiring.
Monitor the status remotely to promptly know whether it fails.
Applied in photovoltaic combiner boxes.
The SYS5-40P 1000V DC Surge Protector Device, supplied by China-based
manufacturer Zhejiang Soutya New Energy LLC, is a 500–1000 V DC, T2-class
SPD with 40 kA maximum discharge current and ≤3.9 kV voltage-protection
level, designed to clamp lightning and switching surges in residential
rooftop PV strings, small C&I solar plants and domestic battery-storage
systems.
Application scenarios
1.Residential rooftop PV
Mounted on the DC side of 5–20 kW single- or three-phase string inverters,
it clamps induced lightning and switching transients; the 3.9 kV protection
level safeguards 600–800 V string insulation, while the IP20 DIN-rail
housing fits inside a domestic distribution board.
2.Small C&I metal-deck solar plants
In 20–60 kW systems, one SPD per two strings is installed in the string
combiner box. Remote-signal contacts are paralleled and wired to the
inverter’s RS-485 port, sending “SPD failure” alarms to the owner’s mobile
app and cutting onsite inspections.
3.Home hybrid PV-battery units
Between the 48 V/51.2 V battery stack and the 600 V DC bus of an all-in-one
inverter, the SPD prevents switching surges generated by battery DC-DC
stages from reflecting into PV modules.
4.Community DC chargers ≤80 kW
On the 750 V DC bus feeding the power modules, the SPD suppresses arcing
surges caused by frequent plug/unplug cycles, protecting internal SiC
MOSFETs and Hall sensors.
5.Telecom tower solar retrofits
A –48 V load shares the same earthing network with an 800 V PV bus; the SPD
stops lightning traveling along feeder cables into the power shelter,
keeping BBU and transport equipment on-air.

Accessory device
Failure Isolation Device
The surge protector is equipped with a failure isolation protection device. When the protector breaks down due to overheating, this device can automatically disconnect it from the power grid while providing an indication signal. When the protector is functioning normally, the indicator window displays green; after failure isolation, the window displays red.
Alarm Remote Signal Device
The protector can be manufactured with remote signal contacts. This device includes a set of normally open and normally closed contacts. When the protector is functioning normally, the normally closed contact is engaged. If one or more modules of the protector fail, the contact will switch from normally closed to normally open, activating the normally open contact to send out a fault signal.
